So a month or so ago, i went to an Escuela Grind show with my buddy in WV, but before the show we hit up this bar/restaurant a few blocks away. I notice after we sit down the bartender is playing Cursive over the loud speakers, so I gave him ups. Dude goes hell yeah, a band I was in opened for them at the troubadour in LA back in the early 00s. I go no way, maybe I know the band



Ends up being the guy that replaced Nick Saddler for a year or so. Dude told me stories about practicing with Ben Weinman on the road, going to Jeff Hanneman’s funeral, working with Kurt Ballou, all while feeding me free shots of Jameson. Wild. He just seemed stoked that I had ok taste. Cool guy.

i feel so much better now that i got some years on my back than when i was 19-21. Way less stressed out, way less arrogant and judgemental, way less nihilistic and pessimistic about the future. Much more in tune with my body and my mind, much more curious and assertive, much more like living and paying attention to the beauty of the world.

Also more mature relationships, less pressure to succeed, and a JOB.
