This record has zero sweeps and Kirk is no sweeper. The Leper Messiah solo has some 3-string sweeps at the beginning but that's about the only sweeping he's ever done imo.

Yes, and he recorded all those techniques on that cellphone he subsequently lost.

"Creeping Death also had a couple of sweeps. 4 strings if I recall correctly"

True, not gonna split hairs but I think it's also 3 strings with a pulloff on the upper string.

Yeah idk Kirk wears his influences pretty hard on some solos on these 80s albums. Eddie Clarke, Hank Shermann, Alex Lifeson, Michael Schenker, even EVH to a fairly large extent on AJFA in particular. That's not to say he doesn't have his own sound/style, because he most definitely does, but he never really reinvented the wheel either.

Not to mention Joe Satriani of all people was his guitar teacher growing up.

I'm a huge fan, at least of his early work. And during my days as a student in a music school, i tried to learn some of his solos. I can reassure you, there's nothing revolutionary in the way Kirk Hammett plays his instrument. Most of the techniques he learned, he did from Satriani. His obsession with the wah pedal might have also originated there.

if your interest is genuine, I would say the Greek philosopher, Pythagoras. But I've also read the pentatonic mode transitioned to a pentatonic scale in Japan.

Go figure...
