Desolation Song is by far one of my favorites in here

even if it is so "simple" when compared to the rest of the album

The "stupid fucking hope" line takes me out of the moment every single time.

It's excellent but ...And the Great Cold Death of the Earth would've also been an amazing ending, especially given that it repeats that refrain that appears a few times throughout the album.

Sevengill isn't it useless fucking hope? lol

I think A Desolation Song is a better closer than Great Cold Death would have been. I think of it this way: Great Cold Death is the actual ending of the main body of the album, and A Desolation Song is kind of like an epilogue that exists outside of it. It's sort of like waking up from the dream at the end and realizing that you're still on Earth and everything still sucks.

To me, it adds this human element to the album that makes it kind of heartbreaking.

I dont see this as a heartbreaking album though. I see is as purging oneself of regret through communion with the indomitable spirit of nature.

got the same feeling the first time Titan bro, you know I hate growling, but with time, the perfection of the atmosphere, the instrumentation and the lyrics really make of that a minor detail
