Perfect mixture of death metal and prog on this one, I adore it.

Heir Apparent, Lotus Eater, Hessian Peel and Hex Omega are all awesome. Coil is pretty good too.

Ghost Reveries destroys this. But it's the only disc in which the presence of Axenrot makes sense

I really think he's a damn mediocre drummer. that solo he used to do on the heritage tour was fucking embarassing. He tries so hard to replicate Lopez's style in the 'new' Opeth releases but he lacks the flair

I'm on the 'Heritage was mediocre' train anyway

Ghost Reveries is way better. Not that this is bad by any means though.

Ghost Reveries is slightly better, both have some minor flaws but are still their best since BWP

Axenrot's drumming on Heritage is one of the best things to grace Opeth's discography.

Axe is alright on here but he really came into his own on Heritage. He certainly doesn't try to replicate Lopez on that album, not even in the slightest. To say he did is just ridiculous.

Axe is part of the reason why I love Heritage so much, his off-kilter flow is so cool and brings a lot of diversity to many of the songs on that album.

He's decent on this but definitely plays it safe, understandable with it being his first Opeth album.
