I think it's just the Diamond Eyes era. But he was quite slim back then.

he got progressively more obese throughout the early 00's then after reaching critical mass in 06 he began slimming down until the point where he was probably considered normal on the BMI scale in 2009-10. Ever since his weight has fluctuated between average and porky. atm he could stand to shed a few pounds but he's not punching holes in his belt or anything.
