I’ll wear band shirts to shows but otherwise haven’t worn one around in general in like 8 or 9 years.

I mean to backtrack a few pages.. I'd consider my digital files to be more permanent than vinyl. I have a backup on a computer and a harddrive, and worst case both die you can always dl the exact same file. And you can store them in the cloud if you really want.
With vinyl some physical trauma and you're fucked
But a physical library you can browse from is very satisfying.
I worked at the 2nd last Blockbuster in the world, and that was the reasoning a lot of customers gave for why they come in despite being able to browse netflix at home.

And I know it's just self expression blah blah but I find band shirts a little (Sometimes a lot) cringy - particularly vulgar/perverse extreme metal ones. I pretty much equate extreme metal shirts to nose rings nowadays
plus it's they always fit like a fuckin muumuu, it's almost like they assume the average metalhead isn't in fighting shape

counterpoint to that
nothing is permanent, not even your enjoyment of your a favorite record that could last for some odd years before life somehow made you and your feelings towards it move on, erode
why not spend hard-earned money on an item that'll become wholly yours and'll mean more to you in however way than it ever could for however long. if it breaks, gets lost, whatever man buy another one. let it become personal than something rented like your time alive.

I wasn't necessarily using that as a drawback of physical media.. just adding my thorts that digital files can also feel pretty permanent in their own right
My vinyls are a tribute to my impulsiveness and poor financial decisions

yea the relationship between consumer and the digital format can be just as intimate
with so much music existing at this point anyone can dig through physical or digital crates and find that one treasure for their life's soundtrack.
some kids gonna recall some fond memory of how he discovered his favorite track on discord over a random broadcast on the radio.

"I worked at the 2nd to last Blockbuster in the world"
Official bragging rights have been approved.
I think the bandcamp bands that give you a digital copy of their album when you buy the CD/Vinyl (and sometimes other merch even) have the right idea. Why not both?

4.5 superb NeutralThunder12 | April 7th 10
The hate is understandable, but Ive always loved this and I love the way their music is composed. Even if it lacks emotion and catchy hooks it brings melodies together from all corners of the music spectrum, and throws in a lot of interesting shit in the mix, usually reworked versions of more ballsy metal sections of the music put to a different style. Again the hate for this style is understandable, but this is a gateway album that I still enjoy to this day, even if it's possible BTBAM are already starting to lose their edge with this style. Colors is simply a lot of fun.

I work away and travel a lot and just dont have room for physicals anymore but I do crave them now and then and have a spree. I have been leaning towards cassettes lately. You can have the album art, lyrics etc and easy as fk to store. Scratches an itch

Never really understood the appeal of cassettes but I hadn't thought about how much space they don't take up.
