Well I like to discuss music with people and it's kind of hard when everyone else in my local area only knows the big hits. Doesn't help that the opener just doesn't hit the same way the rest does for me.

Them Bones is literally one of the best opening songs in history and legit one of AiC's best overall. Maybe you just don't like the heavier side of AiC's work but that's a damn shame because they wrote/write some pretty great heavy shit.

Highly debatable.
The self titled is a respectable choice but I still think this ones better

Honestly I toggle back and forth but I love the tone/atmosphere of self titled. So dark and dreary. Frogs and Sludge Factory are two of my favorite AiC songs.

Album is a mess imo although it's fitting given its melancholy atmosphere and production.

Album is a mess [2]
I've got it tied with BGWTB (which is its polar opposite) and below Dirt, JoF and Facelift.

The messiness is part of its appeal. I can see why it would turn some off but for me, it’s a nearly perfect album. Highly, highly underrated.

It's not a turnoff, but it's definitely not underrated.

i think this album really captures the sloppy depression of deep drug addiction, it all sounds like a bad heroin ego death trip that never ends, and i mean that in the best way possible

I'm sure glad that AiC did heroin and then wrote an album about it so that I don't have to.

Spot on assessment.

I think Them Bones is a bit too straightforward as well, more so than tracks like We Die Young and Dam That River. Radio overplayed it a shitton in my area when i was younger and still listened to radio and I have had a tough time shaking that off. I've warmed up to it a bit, but it's still probably my least favorite AIC opener that I've heard.
