Death and Gorguts are both the best ever, but I prefer Death as well

Better > technical
If that makes sense.

Yeah I can never understand why some people think technicality = quality. How good the music actually sounds is what matters, not how complex it is.

When I was in high school I used to think that the more technical something was, the better it was.
Now I own shit like Ariana Grande and Carly Rae Jepson on vinyl lol

Technical does NOT equal good.
Sometimes it's amazing, other times it's just "hey lets just play hard af technical music that sounds like shit" lol

Planetary Duality is amazing though

Obscura are A tier. Death are S tier. Death will always be above.
Planetary Duality is a fucking great album and blanket abuse The Faceless' discography because Michael Keene is a junkie-meme is a meme in and of itself.

My comment about the bands' respective consistency was purely based on the standard deviation of their album scores lol. And by that metric, Gorguts is indeed more consistent

Gorguts albums also have 3 times less votes. So you can't base it on that.
On a musicianship level, i strongly disagree, Gorguts isn't as consistent as Death, imo.
Death only has good to great albums.
(~at least 4)

If Death are S tier Gorguts are like SSSS tier.

I think Death is better than Gorguts, especially if you look at Human and onward.
Anyway I didn't expect to have a continuing discussion about the guts but fine

That's a toughie...but I guess Death wins. They really aren't that comparable though, they're two very different bands.
