Chuck's outro solo at the end of A Moment of Clarity is honestly still one of the most badass sounding guitar sections I've ever heard.

Flesh and the Power it Holds, and Spirit Crusher are prolly my favs from this.
Can't say I listen to this much though.

This is my 2nd least favorite behind SBG. Never thought it would ever fall so low in my ranking, but here we are lol

I actually couldn't tell you the last time I listened to this. Probably like 6 or 7 years ago

Album Rating: 4.1
I listened to it sometime this year, but the last 3 songs do fuck-all for me. As far as I'm concerned, this album ends on Voice of the Soul

Album Rating: 4.0
Yeah it's the only one I've rated under a 4.5 lol
I'd def prefer it if Chuck did his regular vox on this, although tbh I think even good clean vox would even suit this album (from the right vocalist). Wouldn't make me bump my rating, but I think I'd like it just a bit more.

"a moment of clarity" has probably the best solo chuck ever did. pure fuckin genius

Album Rating: 4.5
Probably about to say something heretical around here but the more I listen to this album the more I feel something is a bit off with the production.
I feel like the solos in particular sound kinda “tinny”, which to me, makes some sections of notes get muddied together and hard to hear.
I don’t know if that’s intentional or not but definitely a step down for me from the near perfect production of Symbolic.

Took a day off work yesterday to go full degenerate and play Path of Exile from wake to sleep.
Also listened to Death the entire time, one album after the other and over and over, because I haven't gone deep on them for too long.
Was a good day.

@metalphil: nah, I agree as well. I think it has to do with the band's move to Nuclear Blast... they now had a bigger recording budget, and I think it bit them in the ass a bit. I'm fine with the production overall, but it definitely lacks the charm and even some of the clarity of albums like ITP and Symbolic. And it also lacks the visceral nature of their first few albums, so it's like the worst of both worlds

guyman have you ever played project diablo 2

Album Rating: 4.5
yeah I agree as well metalphil, been saying pretty much exactly that since my old accounts. If it had the mixing and vocals of Symbolic, it would possibly top it for me.

I've not, and effectively have never really played D2 past the first chapter actually. Family was late to the PC game so I missed out on some good stuff. I still intend to get to the remaster at some point, I've heard good things, but the backlog is stuffed with so much and I've been trying to get actual-good at fighting games.
