Yes agreed

Dino Jr also riffs hard and they're like the ultimate sad bastard indie band
|
| |
Point being that all subcategories of "indie" are defined not by timbres or songwriting conventions, but by a particular ethos

Nah, they’re defined by whether they make you compulsively start munching adderall or robitussin
This heady brew is certainly the latter

the value of all music is defined by the quality of its dynamics and/or album artwork
and this is a straight 10 in both

I can legitimately understand hating this on first impression, it is best served when you know what you’re about to hear and can adjust accordingly, otherwise the range of outcomes is likely vast and fluctuating.
If I played this at random without taking my mood into account I could theoretically give this a 3.0 on the wrong day, and that’s as someone who is familiar with it.
Idk if I have a point here or not, just be patient with it. Unique and rewarding album.

Anyone here ever heard Houdini by Long Fin Killie? Discovered it a couple weeks ago and in a bunch of ways it's not too different from this. Bit prettier maybe, but the basic idea's close enough
Needs a review, and I don't feel qualified

It's one of these albums that are just... out there. Like, it's nice that Slint dropped by and left us this piece of music to enjoy.
