Down Set Go, Im Content With Losing, A Boy Brushed In Red, and Its Dangerous Business are the only songs off of TOCS id put on heavy repeat.

Of course none of them touch anything on DTGL but that’s obvious

Nostalgia doesn’t play much of a factor for me bro sorry, and I basically owe my love for heavy music to TOCS

And Skillet before them lmao

I liked TOCS a lot man ok but when DTGL dropped and I popped it in for the first time without hearing any of it beforehand, shit blew me away in a way TOCS never did

Sink With You and No Frame are better than most tracks on TOCS tbh

Not sure about that, but those are definitely some of the highlights off EM, among a few others — In Motion leading the pack by a decent distance.

That's totally fair Jester bud I can understand why people dig their heavier metalcore stuff more. I mean tracks like Returning Empty Handed... simply can't top the intensity. But yeah I get you I first heard Reinventing Your Exit on Flatout 2 on the PS2 back when I was like... idk 9-10 years old? Loved it even back then but I hated the screaming lol

Down Set Go and I’m Content with Losing are my two favorites here, but most of the tracks are damn good.

TOCS actually reminds me of Brand New’s Deja Entendu in that it’s nothing groundbreaking, but each absolutely perfect that type of genre (metalcore and pop-punk). Then they both went on to more challenging and interesting work with their next albums.

@Jay It’s not just that it was heavier (although that helped) but I hadn’t heard many bands going for more progressive and non-linear song structures before that, being a marching band kid with some music knowledge that was way more interesting to me at the time. I def don’t hate TOCS or anything now, but it’s def not as impactful as it was back in 04-05 when I first heard it
