btw has anyone ordered direct from artists on bandcamp?
I wanna order from Deathspell Omega (Support national socialism etc) but they're so vague with their shipping info and I want to know if it's tracked.
It's cheaper through them but might be less safe than going through a merch company?

I live in Australia so I've got used to the shipping costing as much as the item itself..
Phew I think I prefer the original cover art honestly'
Its not the art its a screenprint limited box I think.
Thats what they usually do. Normal shizz inside

Honestly, if besides Ulcerate, Pyrrhon and Defeated Sanity, Imperial Triumphant, Artificial Brain and Ad Nauseam actually released records this year, I might die of a dopamine overdose.
"I wanna order from Deathspell Omega (Support national socialism etc)", the exact reason why NSBM is so annoying of a trend: you have to stomach giving money to literal nazies if you want their actual records. In the case of a pretty cool sounding band like DsO, it's even more exasperating.

Is it necessary to own their albums? Cos I know of a way to listen to those things for free.

Yeah, it isn't luckily. I doubt they receive that much from ad revenue, especially on places like Spotify, Quboz and such.

But the audio quality from a cd is superior and I often derive some amount of pleasure from supporting artists making music I enjoy, especially if they're underground bands, so it's not optimal.

I don’t really think CD quality is any better than streaming quality these days seeing as they’re both digital formats

I still buy a shitload of CD's just because I have a CD collecting fetish

Havent bought a cd in probably 8 or 9 years

I used to buy them like crazy but had to sell most of them recently. Kinda killed any desire to keep buying, plus they usually just sat on the shelf anyway since streaming is so much more convenient

I don’t even have a way to play CDs anymore

I could make an argument that streaming music has ruined the quality of music but that would be an old man rant....
4000 + Cds
600 + Vinyl
400 + Cassettes
I will forever the preserve the art of actually having a collection.

I no longer buy cds for albums I can get digitally at 24-bit, because that kind of renders them pointless

drawn into next void is disgustinggg

I too still have my cd collection, but it's very unlikely I will ever buy another one

What I appreciate the most about this besides the songwriting is the production. This one has a more obvious studio-like quality than their previous release, it's more buffed up, bubbly and human. Shrines of Paralysis just sounds so dry in comparison, like the guitar track especially lacks timbre and attitude.

the LP rip of shrines is muchhhh better

Umm. It's the vinyl rip I heard last time for it, it sounds better indeed but not by a resolute margin, it sill has the dryness! Any hints on when will Stare Into Death get its LP issue?

i think people preordered it already
and yea they kinda just screwed up the mix for shrines
and also for eif
their two best albums imo, pretty funny

I buy CDs but only for albums that I cannot obtain in vinyl, I kinda have an obsession with owning things physically that having them digitally doesn't really satisfy. In that sense Vinyl is better because they look cooler, they usually sound better and the big cover art is great for decorations if you got creativity with how you can lay them out. Big hassle if you move out frequently though, I used to have them in a zig zag pattern on my wall but since I moved out I haven't put them back yet and transporting all that stuff while making sure nothing broke or warped was terrible
