I feel like Mr. Morale is Kendrick really pushing what he is capable of making and what his audience is capable of listening to. A lot of the songs are challenging to listen to. Worldwide Steppers is basically single throbbing bassline. We Cry Together is a five minute argument that's basically a sequel to u. Count Me Out is practically a diss at himself. Crown is a piano ballad. Auntie Diaries sounds like an extremely vital song in lieu of everything that's happening. Mother I Sober is a jaw dropping confessional.

There are some bangers here, but it's just disingenuous to act like this is a phoned-in album. I think it's gonna reward repeat listens, but it's already hitting for me. Genuinely don't know how people are accusing him of falling off

"It not being gkmc or tpab is not the reason. It's just a extremely generic water down mainstream commercial hip hop album. I love Kendrick. This ain't it."

Yeah seriously [2]. And this is coming from someone who was like the biggest DAMN. fanboy on the site way back when. The drop in quality is astounding.

I feel like this was the exact reaction when DAMN. dropped. DAMN is more of a mainstream sound than Big Steppers and had a similar divisive reaction.

Also mainstream sound doesn’t always mean it’s bad.

Here’s the thing, if you scrap like 5 of these generic pop songs, you’re left with a really solid kdot album. I’m probably just going to make a playlist and enjoy the album that way. Die Hard, Count Me Out, and Silent Hill should not be anywhere near this album

Three songs in and it's already miles ahead of DAMN. Really liking the experimenting vibe.

The best songs here are better than the best songs from DAMN, but i think the worst ones might be worse here (aside from LOVE, that might be my least favorite kendrick track)

Insane take. The bangers provide levity. Would you delete Swimming Pools or Backstreet Freestyle off of GKMC?

Think the new album's reception has been much more negative so far. I remember DAMN. maintaining a 4+ average for at least like a week or two. I've seen the new one drop as low as a 3.4 already

And before people start saying "well all the publications are saying its amazing" OF COURSE THEY ARE LMAO its a kendrick album no publication would dare give this album a bad review this early

I am beyond eager to see what Fantano gives the album. That's when the tide probably turns lol

Imagine if Fantano gave it a Not Good? Lmao the internet would explode.

I predict a 6 from him but I’ve been wrong before. He has very specific taste.

Fantano busting out the yellow for sure. He gave DAMN a 7 (later a 6), but this album has a more clearer focus and theme, which is something that he loves. Though The Heart Part 5 isn't on here, it's themes are everywhere and he seemed to really be loving that. Very confident it'll get at least an 8
