my girls is a fun song but i've played it to death. and even then that one goes on for too long. i wish they had the same restraint that they did in the past, instead of making a song 4 choruses long and all around 6 mins. that's too much

Ok so this is pretty amazing. I must say I was skeptical about getting into Animal Collective because, understanding that they are best known for their experimentalism and sonic exploration, I was a bit worried that their songwriting wouldn't hold up, but both this and Fall Be Kind have excellent songwriting and lyrics. Granted, I understand that this is one of their most song-based efforts, so the same may not be true of their other records, but either way I am really loving this and excited to delve deeper.
I'm thinking that instead of hopping around in their discog at random that I'll now just go back to the start and take the ride forward chronologically.

Boney I'd recommend working back from this one through Strawberry Jam, Feels then Sung Tongs as the early albums are totally different. Such a great band through that 4 album stretch up to Merriweather
