how so, did they drop him on later albums?

karl definitely has a limited range, but i think the magic comes from the sheer power and clarity delivered
labyrinthian only hits as hard as it does because of his performance, i don't think jesse would quite get the same result. same could be said if karl did the malice songs

jesse came back for their most recent album but karl was on absent light
which unfortunately further highlights his lack of range because the production is so thin. here it sounds massive and it better fits his style

i can certainly see that, i do like how intelligible the vocals are, and the lyrics are amazing and powerful. something about the tone of the scream just doesnt click immediately. i've jammed this album in the past but just now revisitiing and blown away by the instrumentation so maybe i just need some more time with it

i think they should have inserted the japanese bonus version of ebb and flow, and moved both tracks to the end in a part 1 and 2 setup
i restructured the tracklist to experiment and it absolutely slaps

gotta check that version of ebb and flow but the way this ends already is perfect to me. reset/homecoming tie this together so wonderfully (albeit were initially the two songs that took longest to click)

it would also work as is with the alt take acting as a bridge between set in motion and ebb and flow, just maybe at half the length or an interlude

Karl isn't the most dynamic vocalist, but the power and clarity of his vocals (especially on this album) are *chef's kiss*

His lyrics aren't even that great but he says everything with so much power and enunciates his words perfectly you can't help but feel empowered by it.
Lotta metalcore vocalists are hard to understand what they're saying but Karl keeps you locked in with every line

It took me quite a while to warm up to this album, mostly because Karl just felt very monotone in his delivery. But when it clicked... Oh boy

this is arguably the most quotable metalcore album of all time that isn't a meme like parkway drive

Agree Art. The lack of variation on the vocals was always my hang up with these dudes. Until it clicked. Then it was fucking ON.

Jesse owned on Malice [2] each fit the albums they were on and i don't think i'd have it any other way

yeah some of jesse's lines on malice are just insane
on account of an absence for starters
