Cult of Luna is alright. i actually liked them at their most straightforward on their first two albums. after that they got kind of boring.'

this for sure, find everything after the 2nd realllly boring

Yeah I was young and Wasnt into many post metal bands and was a fan of that sound around then so those records stuck with me. Everything after that I just dont feel at all.

I just think thats the sound theyre good at. I thought their attempts at incorporating post rock and whatnot werent very interesting.

Indeed. Like just because you might be trying new ideas doesnt mean its cant be boring in comparison to more formulaic approach. A lot of later stuff i find really weak and uninteresting.

I definitely don't blame you deez, The Beyond is fuckin massive. for me it ties 2nd with everyone's favourite, somewhere along the highway

Salvation, but The Beyond is a close second. Salvation still brings the riffs, and it's not too post-rock with their passages like they were with SATH

Salvation is when I lost interest it never quite hit me. Some tracks I was feeling. Ill give it another go

it's still heavy; the vocals are monstrous, and riffs like The Beyond with more "twinkle". I grew up with both records, and I've come to see them as companions, the dark and light versions of their style of the time

I think I finally had my breakthrough listen on this after many many tries. Not that I didn't like it before but now I'm really feeling it. Purify into Locust Star is so awesome.
