Oh ive got plenty of bands with women fronting them that are amazing. I think this one of the things that bugs me about spiritbox and Jinjer is that they are given such accolades for being women fronted metal bands. When theres been plenty of amazing and more impressive bands before that just because they werent in the popcore scene didnt make waves. Spiritbox and jinjer are just fine perfectly average bands with decent vocalists, the same goes for poppy as well.

Like to a degree wheres this hype for Svalbard? Employed to serve? FUCKING ROLO TOMASSI? Brutus? All of which are core adjacent. As well as the boat load of sludge/black/doom/death metal bands that are led by women. If you think Metal lacks Women centered or female frontes bands you arent looking hard enough, a lot of them said "fuck the mainstream" and did their own thing where the focus wasnt on their sex organs

Damn what a short-sighted take as a dude lol all due respect I suppose

They’re not average at all and they earned where they’re at. Those same bands you mentioned that they’re not as popular would defend and support Spiritbox and Jinjer because some people are myopic to not see that they all support each other and it’s more on the men that are supposed fans of metal that need to reflect on themselves about this. The fuck you think they are, Evanescence? They deserved their flowers too. Maybe all those bands with women had different ideas of pursuing music as a careers like you said cuz gender aside that shit doesn’t pay well. Maybe their circles aren’t well connected, maybe it was a time and place thing, maybe they fuck themselves over like Escuela Grind, maybe they don’t care for how it affects their health and family. If you want to see the change, do better and promote harder. You’re comparing a band with metalcore and Meshuggah lineage and another with death metal lineage to sludge metal and hardcore punk bands just cuz they’re also aligned with pop sensibilities when that isn’t a bad thing at all. Who’s next? Fleshwater? It’s always metal’s own people that want to bring them down, it’s sad.

I never said they didnt deserve where they are at, i simply stated its something i found irritating they got these all these laurels while other female led core bands fly under the radar. Theres alot of things that are at play here. Overall gender shouldnt affect anything it should solely be the music

Now the second part of my comment didnt have anything to with spiritbox really. I was highlighting the fact that there are a lot more and other female fronted metal bands beyond the mainstream, which people miss because they dont dig furthur or explore more.

I personally believe that Spiritbox and jinjer are average compared to their peers who are overlooked for whatever reason. Largely i would say this is aimed at magizine publishers or record labels picking whoever is the most marketable in terms of the popular scene.

I wish i could have seen Caro with amenra but thatll likely never happen in Aus

If you know there are other factors at play then it’s not worth getting irritated by it. Better to be part of the solution and bump their threads for more exposure and discussion

That is fair but this is more expanding outside of this site. Its hard not to be bothered by a band thats dominating media currently. Anyway i am listening to this now to see if my thoughts can be changed about spiritbox

Why are we layering courtneys vocals with so many effects. The woman can sing, she doesnt need to be buried by effects. Her vocals are weirdly placed in the mix. Youtube compression murdered keep sweet and i feel a lot of the singles i listened to.

Spiritbox has been popular but on that same coin, 90% of people I could ask most likely hasn't even heard of them. Band X getting more recognition than band Y is such a tired point to make in metal or metalcore or whatever genre.

I can 100% agree with whover said the songs dont have an ending they just stop. Which is a weird choice. This is not anything below a 2.5 to me, while i dont get this band, its not like its awful or a poor effort.

Title track has an ending. I feel this album is really brought down by the production choices largely. Some of the tracks here could sound HUGE, the title track comes to mind, that intro could sound monstrous and a lot more impactful. Theres a section in the title track (its where im up to atm) that would have been a great guitar highlight but it fell flat.

in the current over-saturated and terrible state of the industry it’s incredible that any metal/metalcore-adjacent band can be this popular at all. i can guarantee this band will push thousands of kids and new fans of aggressive music further into the style, and that in itself is a great thing. Even though I’m not super into this (fata morgana bumps p hard tho) I’m glad this band is around. Metal heads and hardcore kids are always gonna bitch regardless and tell you what you like is bullshit. This could be the rawest metalcore since xElegyx and there’d be someone around to tell you it sucks and that it’s not as good as integrity or Merauder.

damn right bach, not enough support or work done for the bands people want to see win or be popular cuz those same people would rather use their time to punch down when they have no idea of the work behind it all. The kids who eat this up understand the doors that it can open for them more than that they care that’s it’s popular.

Oh title track didnt have an ending that was the intro to the next song. I just mean that the songs feel somewhat compressed to a point they cant breathe fully due to the production choices and lose some of the weight they could have.

Ill admit this is better than i was expecting and led to believe from the singles i checked out. Which is why i chose to listen to it. Overall the band did a good job for this album but the production choices i think drag it down
