Honestly, I don't get people's issues with drone. It's not only a great song with a massive bass, but it's placing on the album is essential to energize the listener (with gloomy lyrics though).

I Can Never Say Goodbye is my current fave. Staggering.

"The first two songs for me are in perfect order because they really remind me of a ‘dark night of the soul’ followed by a ‘waking up to reality and it’s ok’ feeling."
exactly why i like that song later in the album lol its too much sugar at track 2. the whole new day renewal idea is nice but feels much more earned in the back half when uh, a stronger case that a "day has passed" can be made lol
agreed that its not rocket science, this doesnt have to be a goat for everybody (coming from someone who thinks disintegration is one of the best 3 albums ever made)

that's personal preference sure, as I said before on my first listen I was fully expecting the whole album to effectively sound like 'Alone' and suddenly this Sigur Ros type intro comes in and it really surprised me, it showed the album wasn't going to wallow
'And Nothing is Forever's intro does sound like morning to me so it coming later wouldn't feel as fitting

I feel like even though there are many other excellent Cure albums, this and Disintegration share that same rarified air that none od the others touch. It's just some weird kind of magic sprinkled in here that can really hit different, especially in the right mood. The bleakness and emotion pouring out of Smith are just monumental on both releases, this is def their second magnum opus

Indeed.
The magic, it’s definitely a waning source.
It’s what makes a truly extraordinary record. This has it.

This really is one of those beautiful things

Alone into And Nothing... feels like a bit of an inverse Plainsong -> Pictures of You to me
it particularly stuck out watching that livestream but it could just be something I have to "get over" since that was really the only sequencing issue I had listening to this the first coupla times

Finally checking. First the Cure. Cause I’m dumb. It is hype worthy. Am pleased.

The album is perfect as it is, and I dig 8-track releases with their unique vibes, but still I wonder why they didn't include a studio version of "It Can Never Be The Same" from Curaetion. Such a wonderful song.

maybe they'll release it on the next record, he mentioned something in an interview about having a lot of songs in the bank for an upcoming record or two

I walked to this album in wet, melting snow weather yesterday. It's still a 5. It will never not be a 5.
