I'm starting to think that way too. Grimace is still such a brilliant raw epic and so far their boldest, but the more concentrated maturity of this has a lot more replay value than GC in general.

Honestly? This (and the ex-sputters guitar playing) has inspired me enough to try a short EP with my own band in the style of this + Helmet/Godflesh/Jesus Lizard/Sepultura (which I would imagine are clear influences anyway). Mr. Manhole has this trick of constantly hammering those open higher strings that I love the sound of when backed by a proper groove. I've no idea how it'll sound with a woman on vocals though, so that'll defo be fun!

This album deeply unsettled me. I liked it but i don't think i want to go around again for a while.

Pjorn has abandoned us, fame and glory got the best of him, but who can blame him right?

Really curious what the deal is with these goofy names these guys picked for themselves and seem to take very seriously

At least half of this is calming not unsettling for me

The fact they stick to their goofy pseudonyms and haven’t explained why what they mean makes it funnier

I think i found the last one more unsettling and it reminded me of You wont get what you want, which reminded me of those wankers so i didnt finish listening to it. I should probs revisit Gods country a mate of mine loves these dudes

We're going into the studio this weekend to record for a compilation release. I guess if it doesn't sound like utter shit, I'll throw it here too. But it's more of a proof-of-concept to make an EP early next year.

@kkarron keep us posted that's a cool combo of genres and influences

I've been writing a lot of acoustic stuff lately honestly because I can't be fucked messing around with DAWs and I always spend more time trying to perfect the tones and never get around to actually writing anything... I probably have enough material for a country gothic ep but I despise my voice which is a bit of a problem...

I’ve had a half done gothic country album sitting on my hard drive for a decade. It’s a running joke with my friends lmao

It's sad to think about how much good music goes unreleased.

I know at least two guys who used to use sputnik who sent me stuff that was honestly as good as any singer songwriter tunes you'll hear from anyone, yet they'll always just be a bedroom demo heard by only a few.

My stuff isn't that level but I must have 100+ demos spanning gothic country to black metal, power electronics, dark ambient, techno, hip hop... buried in my hard drive because I'm never happy enough to release it.

Luckily not everyone is a perfectionist or there wouldn't be any fucking music in the world

i bet it wasnt that good or didnt have an audience. i have a theory that those are really the only two factors that matter with music. you can have really good music with no audience and get recognition or really bad music with an audience and get recognition or obviously both. i really dont think any music that isnt successful should be successful and ive never heard music that blew my mind and i didnt understand why it wasnt successful or vise versa

the really sad thing is how much great music is created in peoples minds but those people dont have the ability to compose it. i swear i write the most mind blowing shit in my head sometimes but its like that tears in the rain quote. will eventually bring some of it to life if my decrepit body will allow me but it will most likely be bad and have no audience and i accept that lol going for it anyway cause its all i fucking care about in this stupid world
