Very bizarre, but listened to this today out of curiosity, and it was a significant amount better than I remember...

We are the Sound is so perfect and then that weaksauce chorus comes in, it's like they just threw Dallas in out of habit and he phoned it in majorly
that's one song that really should have just been Wade and George but everything else on here is amazingly balanced

'i should bump this. i listen to it damn near daily.' - this is one of those albums where I have cycles of doing exactly that. It's so addictive, I get the chorus of at least one track stuck in my head weekly

I had largely considered it inferior to their first two albums by a long shot, but maybe now not as much...
|
| |
It is inferior but not by a long shot (to the s/t anyway, Watch Out is a good way above this imo)
|
| |
Disagree. I'd take this over either but I could see how somebody would prefer Watch Out

My main gripe with Watch Out is that the majority of the songs have the same use of the major third interval. "Accidents," "Side Walk When She Walks," "Hey, it's your funeral mama," and "Happiness by the kilowatt" all start with it and have it as a basic structure to their makeup, while "No Transitory," "Sharks and Danger," "That Girl Possessed," and "White Devil" all dabble with it in significant portions of the song.
It might not have been such an issue if their first album also didn't have some dependency on the interval. But it does, and therefor made their second release sound a tad bit lazy in that regard... I did learn to love it though, after getting over that issue.

Imagine if they remade You Burn First when they made the Dogs Blood EP. That would have been some gnarly shit.

that would have been absolute fire
as much as I love Dallas an album with just George and Wade is kind of what I need

Had to bump this after listening to it recently. Still know every word 10 years later, and This Could Be Anywhere is an all-timer for me
