Flug I don't much engage in Muse discourse, or read about it, my opinion is that I've been duped by my teenage mind that any of it was good as right now I feel it would be cringe to listen to that stuff. I'll give it a spin sometime soon to confirm my suspicions though
Also I don't need any thread to tell me how much they suck, I can just take a look at their album arts / song titles / videos / listen to the actual music and deduce that they're absolute garbo for over 15 years now

your taste changes over time... Muse now has absolutely no effect on what I think of Muse's older material, so whilst all Muse post-Black Holes is essentially garbo, I also don't love their earlier stuff as much as I did when I was younger (it's still mostly decent tho)
even my younger self wasn't fooled by The Resistance when it dropped, I realised the path they were on back then and that it likely wouldn't end well

I'm just getting sad reading this.

"I'm german and i don't really get it lol"
the "ween" parts are meant to be robotic onomatopoeias
it's not easy to explain
I swear it wasn't a dream

I just had an Origin of Symmetry binge. Meaning one listen wasn't enough. Album is still _extremely_ good.
|
| |
muse were always garbage, but i must admit they do tend to be bad in a spectacular way
|
| |
I had to read old reviews of Origin to see how people reacted to it. As you can expect it went from 'what an amazing future would sound like' to 'this is hilariously bad'.
|
| |
eh it's a bit of both imo, they've got occasional jams up to Resistance at least. Best album all around for me it'd probably be Black Holes these days because the poppiness is integrated with their pseudo space rocky thing in a way that makes it unique
Plus Cydonia slams

No thanks, I've already heard Systematic Chaos by Dream Theater

Halloween sounds like it was ripped straight out of Royal Blood's latest album

saw these guys with evanescence last night, pretty killer show despite never really getting into them. i suppose the general consensus for these guys is their first 4 lps are the way to go?

Ehh, while their earlier material is obviously stronger, there's a substantial amount of good songs throught their more recent outputs.

I mean Resistance has Unnatural Selection and MK Ultra, so that's all that matters.

^ and as cheesy as it is the t/t rules hard. Super fun bass song

I feel like Resistance has aged surprisingly well actually. There's some interesting stuff on that
|
| |
its only aged well in the context of how abysmal everything else after it is
honestly the band started to lose it at black holes when they stopped caring about songwriting and just tried to act all grand and lavish with hollow reasons to back it up. it had fantastic songs like map of the problematique and starlight, but also terrible tracks like supermassive which unfortunately became an omen for the shite the band turned into after. and knights of cydonia is still one of the most overrated rock songs in history, not even top half of the album.
|
| |
Supermassive sucks like a black hole agreed, band has always been a sporadically fun pastiche factory and imo since Drones they've been well and truly out of new ideas

Ripping off Manson in 2022 shows how out of touch these cunts are

Sinternet agree with every word. Muse had an even bigger downfall than Coldplay, hard to see how these bands could both write legitimate all time classic albums in Origins & Rush of Blood. Sad.
