I love Change as an opener honestly. At first I wasn't sure but the more I listen to this the more perfect it feels.

Change is fantastic

Yeah, it does work as the opener, it just doesn't seem like an obvious choice to me

Red Moon is fucking awful lol. Time Escaping has grown on me a lot

Change is intensely boring. It's not a bad song but I've heard it 4 times now and I still couldn't tell you how it goes. In one ear and out the other

Red Moon is so good lol

It's the bad kind of country imo. Certainty is the good kind

The bookends of “Would you live forever, never die, while everything around you passes?” from Change and “I wanna live forever till I die” from the closer are beautiful. Makes Change a prime opener for me.

pretty much all of them

Blurred View, Flower of Blood, Little Things, Simulation Swarm, Time Escaping, t/t
If you like country the list will be totally different.

The two worst takes in this entire thread are:
“Promise Is a Pendulum totally sucks” and “Red Moon is fucking awful”
Congrats Gyro, on both accounts, and to nobody’s surprise

I also really enjoy the hell outta Love, that's one that does a good job at marrying old big thief with the new one, don't know why it got such a bad rep

Real talk though Red Moon is one of the best tracks here and the placement is perfect. It’s exactly the mood lift I need at that point in the album. From a pacing standpoint they couldn’t have nailed it better

heavy bend rocks yeah. I quite like the closer tbh even though it's not a highlight
|

Red Moon is meh, alright, but for country mode, I'd choose Spud.
The closer is awful.
