out of all these british post-punk bands that seem to be all the rage these days, this one is by far the worst. Really boring instrumentals and fucking awful vocals.

I can see the appeal in Black Midi and BC,NR, but this is obnoxious as fuck and pretty boring, too. I dunno lol ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Also I probs disagree and agree with an equal measure of rabidfish takes, but something like 69.69% of them are still good takes so there's that

Other way around for me, this is fairly pleasant. Some of the songs overstay their welcome a tad, which is odd because the one song which repeats itself ad nauseam is actually the strongest here. Idk, the build just works for me and the pay-off is nice.

All 3 bands are certainly guilty of artificially elongating many of their tracks, without providing the additional moments of genuine substance to justify this.

The underlying avant proto post NYC 1980 art rock shtick makes squid infinitely more listenable than those other two for me.

It's like "Oh what a purpose" but Devo/Talking Heads/Television instead of some of someone with a hair lip.

I definitely vibe with this one more than the others, their core sound isn’t as instinctively off-putting.

It's more entertaining than people just commenting "this sucks" over and over but alright

This is my favorite of the 3 big punkish releases this year, but I've always been drawn to anxious quirkiness

infinitely more fun than cavalcade, this one is actually pretty entertaining sometimes. probably tied with schlagenheim for best album in this "scene"
