tbh this one has a lot of space-y laid back beats so if you're not moved at all it's perfectly understandable, obv I disagree, but I've been there and once I got passed what I thought were unmemorable songs I found an album with a lot of replay value due to thick atmosphere

any specific reason for the dramatic shift from Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik to this? I tried looking it up in interviews or something, but nothing.

ya, you just have to look at their history with organized noize. andre was always thinking out of the box and big boi wanted to be a playa in the south. ON produced their whole first album and they were just rappers whose jobs were to represent atlanta as something more than pistols and butts. so in their second album, andre wasn't drinking, smoking and met erykah badu. he was on some next level shit thinking "Why dont other black people see that we've been glorifying the trap an drug abuse." as the albums went on, ON took a back seat. They produced 2/3 of atliens and less in aquemini if my memory is right.

tl'dr: This is their true sound, they wanted to branch away from other hip hop at the time which wasn't as.....extraterrestrial lol. i call it their wutang album haha because the lyricism is through the roof
