Gotta say I lol at people claiming it's somehow brave to be leftie progressive/anti-Trump/anti-America in the metal/punk world. But I digress.

Punk definitely not, but straight metalheads, yeah, thats a little out of their comfort zone. Also I dont think many bands were talking about womens rights and speaking out on slut shaming in 2005-2006 when PTH were with Kezia.

my only issue with this is it does feel a little samey throughout. if they incorporated some obscure or nasty heavy parts that would've made it way better imo, but i guess protest hasn't really done that for some time

Yeah that's why I love Soliloquy so much, it's those blast beats and growls, damn.

The vocals take some time to get used to on this release as he had to relearn how to sing, but I think it's the actual mixing/production that is more "annoying" than the vocals if you're not fully bought in. That being said, I don't have a problem with anything other than wishing the guitars were maybe a little more present in the mix

I just found out All Hands is about the Boston molasses flood of all things
I can't believe they made such an epic song about such a bizarre, would-be-hilarious-if-not-for-the-actual-death incident

Yeah reading the Genius pages for these songs is a trip.

I feel like people who have an issue with how Rody sounds on here must be using shit gear. Most garbage consumer-grade gear has terrible nonlinear distortion at right about Rody's primary resonant frequency band.
I don't hear even the slightest bit of whiny or nasally etc. that a lot of people seem to have an issue with. I'm pretty convinced that it's not actually there and is the fault of your gear.
As for PTH's politics, they never struck me as being leftist. Closer to something like Libertarian, neither left nor right.

Bruh, all due respect but this is a bad take.
Protest are left as shit lol
In addition, Rody had to relearn how to sing for this record. There is a noticeable difference in some of the higher notes that sound a lot whinier. I don't think it's a bad thing, but the vocals are undeniably different than from, say, Scurrilous or Fortress.

as he had to relearn how to sing
what is the story behind this

I feel off this band hard around 2010-2011 and never really went back. Glad to see that this album is really good. The Migrant Mother is a sick jam.

Thanks gocsa666, good read. Plus, my non-native speaker brain expanded by 0.05% when I read the word "mellifluous".

Most of this is really good, but I almost have to skip The Canary at this point because I absolutely loath the way how Rody sings the verses. I get the shivers for all the wrong reasons at that part.

The first verse of The Canary sounds clumsy, but it doesn't bother me after that. I'm used to it at this point. Love the song now.
