I think I started Miyazaki's games all wrong. Started this year with Sekiro and finished it (Sword Saint took me forever jezus) and now started with Bloodborne. Hit a pretty steep wall with Vicar Emilia though. Been bashing my head against her for a couple of hours without succes (her tells are so obvious but I keep getting caught). Loving both games though, the gitgud vibe is actually kinda enjoyable in a masochistic way.

I feel bad for my friend. He's a former employee at Bandai who still talks with his friends who still work over there and I always have him leak me shit about FromSoft, Konami, and Bandai games.

The amount of stuff I've learned about Elden Ring was worth it and he honestly doesn't mind, still though poor guy.

I should be leaker! But I'm always afraid of being wrong lmao

Hard to explain because there isn't any particular reason except Miyazaki being Miyazaki.

Basically the game was nearly finished (about 85%) when they released that trailer back in 2019, but the pandemic halted their progress and they had to delay their intended release date of May 2020. Then the ensuing delay encouraged the team to add more content that they previously cut for time into the game, which cause further delay.

Bandai has not been happy about this, and has been pestering From to release some information of any kind regarding Elden Ring, because they're afraid the hype will be lost if they don't provide another update, but Miyazaki doesn't want to commit to any new information until the game is 99% finished. So he's been butting heads with Bandai management over the issue. Apparently things got so bad that Miyazaki threatened to switch publisher's to Activision if Bandai didn't back off. Which apparently worked at scaring them off his case.

As far as things look now, the game is just being polished at this point because they've done everything they wanted to do with the game, and they are aiming for a Q3 2021 release. Again though, the pandemic makes Miyazaki hesitant about building hype for it because he's afraid a delay right after releasing new information could cause backlash. However, if the pandemic gets worse somehow, they are planning to delay it to 2022.

I want it closer to Sekiro than souls but I doubt that’s the case

@Caliggy thanks man, it actually makes a lot of sense. I really hope the delay will not change the fact that they were releasing it for previous gens as well. Still want to play it but don't think I'll have a ps5 before it comes out lol.

Yeah, it's still planned for prev gens. Or at least I've not heard otherwise.

Unless Bandai forces them too, and considering the way these two companies are about to get into a fist fight, I wouldn't doubt such an asinine thing happening.

It took awhile for this to click, but I'm absolutely hooked on this game after Lady Butterfly and Gyoubu Oniwa.

My less preferred Soulsborne game due to lack of builds and fashion souls but one with the best gameplay otherwise.

I binged the game over the weekend, got the Shura ending, and now I'm in Fountainhead about to tackle the endgame. I think that it's become my second favorite FS game after DS1. Genichiro is one of the best bosses I've ever fought. He's the perfect skill check, it's damn near impossible to beat him without becoming proficient at deflecting, and once I finished and started heading to areas like Sunken Valley and Ashina Depths, everything became significantly less daunting. The initial Guardian Ape fight still beat my ass though. Took several hours to get comfortable with both phases' movesets. The only fights that I've encountered that I'm not a huge fan of are the Headlesses.

This game is fantastic but the people asking for Fromsoft to make another Tenchu game seem to forget that it was fromsoft who mishandled the IP in the first place.

Maybe some modern ports but I don't trust Fromsoft with the franchise, especially considering the only Tenchu game they've ever made was a shitty bomberman clone.
