Do it lol

Ya know there are tons of influential albums I can totally get behind the “how could you not like this” mentality but it always baffles me how that particular one touches a nerve. Like what’s exactly not to understand about that one? #edgy

Art, I think you nailed why I like this and Rooms but can't stand Wildlife and Somewhere...

The vocalist is so over bearing in those first 2 records but is much more digestible on the past 2 albums.

That’s can’t why I didn’t really like their debut that much. He’s not as much of the focus here and this really struck a chord with me musically.

he is definitely grating and overly dramatic on wildlife and satb, especially the latter, but it works for me. the instrumental side of satb is also low key magnificent even if it's intentionally overshadowed by jordan's performance

Jordan is brilliant here though, I love how he threatens to just lose it on Fulton St I + II but just leaves us hanging.

Top notch lyrics, too.

despite Jordan being the most compelling part of the band (imo), instrumentally they are brilliant and have always been.

There’s some quality builds on here instrumentally, definitely gives me a post rock kinda vibe at times.

Pleb I’m curious. Why don’t you care for Wildlife?

The instruments kinda take a back seat to what I can only describe as ‘fast jumbled nonsense’ spoken word by Jordan.

Dunno man, I just find that record irritating to listen to.

Wildlife drags a bit for me, it has some of their best songs on it though. I preferred Rooms to it for a while, now they're even with each other.

That being said, this might be my favorite thing from them outside Here Hear III

Fair enough man just curious :] I feel like Wildlife would be their best album if they cut out all the poems and just kept the “song” songs. Maybe culminate all of them into one but four of them just makes the album drag on so bad.

Probably doesn’t help that it all melds into an annoying noise haha.

It’s not for me, let’s leave it at that.

This jams, though.

Yea not usually one for the spoken word style of vox so don’t really know how much I’d like mewithoutyou but this is amazing. I adore the atmosphere of this one.

The atmosphere is what makes this record for me. Also really dig that their is some obvious restraint rather than going for the same 'ol 'build-up' and repeat formula.

@Mongi mewithoutyou's albums from Brother, Sister to Untitled are not really spoken word, especially from Ten Stories to Untitled. And Artuma I'd agree that Jordan's lyrics are definitely not nonsense, but la dispute's first two albums just feel homogeneous to me because his vocals are omnipresent.
