the problem is that the style change isn't impressive... the beats on 3/4's of this just aren't interesting at all. his last album was cutting-edge, this is... cutting room floor.
it's nice but its a big two steps back for him as far as production goes. this does nothing to set him apart from his peers and it's standard fare for an alternative hip-hop album in general. I think that just gets over-looked because he's acquired a pretty broad audience at this point that aren't very invested in the rest of the niche.
