ahahah 4 sure I know I'm not the first and wont be last.
It also makes me sad that the review avoid the obvious comparisons and vibes to Tool and APC (but way more technical and proggy)...like its trying to set this apart in originality from everything that was ever done...someone (Piglet tbf) said on page 1 "this is like if tool cheated on maynard with animals as leaders" and it makes a lot of sense lolol as funny as it is. And with that said I still feel this is original, beautiful, groundbreaking and awesomely good. considering the bump.

I don't think this sounds anything like APC. I can believe the Tool influence though, they've talked about them as an influence numerous times before.
Also early albums have some fucking gems. Phoenix 1-3 are amazing

APC on some spacey solos and some baselines...when I get the time we could have some fun doing that comparison. Supreme I'll pay attention to that track(s) when I'm finished with this and will feed back, tks

I think I'll just go full retard mode regarding the vox discussions because I simply missed the last day.
What about a rendition version of this record where the band asks specific vocalists to reinterpret the songs (for every song another vocalist)?
I would die for that just out of curiosity. The album is perfect as it is, yet I find it so damn interesting how vocalists would approach these songs. I think letlive did that years ago: They asked various vocalists to reinterpret parts of different songs.

now that would be kinda cool X)

yea letlive was supposed to do a whole album of it, but ended up doing only two songs, one with dan campbell from the wonder years and one with keith buckley from every time i die

I've been putting more work into drumming essentials from the root, not just trying to play off of the songs I hear like i have been for years. In majority due to the fact that Aric fucking Improta puts on a clinic with every single track he writes. He's made me wanna go back and learn my shit proper so I can ever have a hope of playing the way he does.

The reason this review avoided the "obvious comparisons to Tool and APC" is because I've never actually jammed those two bands (the shocker) and wouldn't know to even make the comparison. But as a general thing I'm not the biggest fan of name-dropping, if only because it tends to lead people into thinking a band actively emulated others when that isn't necessarily the case

There is like one part in one song, but that's all the Tool it has.

I was gonna say I’ve seen a lot of sput hype on this album so I was considering checking it out but I think tool is one of the most overrated bands ever so I was apprehensive
