They played some of this album when I saw them earlier in 2018 right when this dropped, and as they got off stage Dan told us that they were "working on new material right now". I hope that went somewhere. This doesn't feel like a Tesseract album to me and I can't put my finger on why.

Or maybe because it wasn't what I was hoping for, it'll be better now that I haven't listened in many months and can view it with fresh eyes.

Same for new VOLA and Skyharbor. all three really let me down this year.

Only complaint is that it's too short. I was of the belief that, for a while, this was going to be the first half of a double album, but I was wrong

Hmm spun again last night, it wasn't as bad as I remember, but it was definitely too short and didn't have enough of the big Tesseract moments that usually make me fall head over heels with specific songs. It's just pleasant and fine. Oh well.

It just makes so much more sense as an EP. I know the division is in the end arbitrary and music should speak for itself, but it would bug me less if this wasn't considered a full-length release. It just feels so half-baked. Put it back in the oven.

I listen to this as an ep version most of the time

King, Orbital, Juno, Smile, The Arrow.

If the record was an ep with these tracks it would he all killer no filler

I also listened to One and AS again with your words in mind Nomos and I would have to lie,if I said that I loved it, but this perspective definetly made sense. I think One works better as a whole album while AS starts incredibly strong and falters hard after the fourth track. It pretty directionless after that one imo

whew gotta disagree about faltering after 4, but I get it. I still get chills at the end of 5.

Mirror Image is pretty slept-on.

King is really cool but I still prefer Beneath My Skin/mirror image, such a beast of a song. Its calm mood makes it even better

Oddly enough I think that song should be significantly longer. That section in the middle "I'm half crazy / it keeps me awake" could have gone on forever and I'd have been stoked.

Nah, it has a perfect length. Main reason why it's working is in the way song progresses, extending this moment would make song's structure and sound get messy

Saw them last night in Boulder. As usual, they blew the damn doors off. This band is so tight live.
