I don't think it's a 1 lmfao it's definitely catchy, but I'm just not finding this particularly memorable. Somewhere between the 2.5-3 range for me but the album isn't done yet

i think this is a beautiful album and unlike anything i heard this year. with an opener as strong as 'slow burn' i really don't get how people are hating on this. right off the bat it throws you a beautiful composition with heartfelt lyrics. maybe if it started with 'high horse' i could see people sticking around for like a song or 2 and writing it off as commercial pop (but even then, no), but this thing pulled me in so easily

I rate strictly in hyperbole

I might 1 this just because the lack of blast beats and Satan worship is really disheartening

I usually try not to say that it's "hard to imagine" someone feeling/not feeling xyz about a piece of music but I agree with gyro that I am so immediately on this album's side when it opens up with those "slow burn" chords that it's like Damn you Guys

i mean if you are a person who thinks pop is inherently bad/worthless of course you're not going to like this

The opening chords of slow burn made it hard for me to even give the whole album a fair chance. My first try with this I skipped it after a minute and then ended up stopping entirely on track 3. Tried again tho and pushed through it because hypehype and u never kno

I love pop and also this is barely pop at all by contemporary measures

I've heard so many "this is pop but not really country" takes that "this is not really pop" comes as a surprise. Genre arguments are DUM I guess but...what is it?

It's hard not to feel doomed to being viewed as the edgy contrarian here but Im really not about that, this just ain't the one fam. I'm genuinely shocked.

Kacey would say that it's all supposed to blend together anyway and she wants country music to redefine itself.

agreed, quibbling over genres is useless. to my ears this definitely sounds like a pop/country album

@Robertsona I just mean as far as where the genre is at right now I dont find it fits. it is by all means ~popular music~ I'm sure but in terms of style, aesthetic, sound, I dont hear ~2018 pop~. There are a few songs that go in a much more poppy direction than others but even then it's outdated. For the vast majority the folk influences stand out to me more. Folk pop maybe I dunno.
