With the sleeve @Tundra? I told them that, too, during their Zoom reveal of the album yesterday

@Garth - no I’m still apprehensive about this new album being good 4+ material. Of the 4 songs we have heard, 2 are bangers, one is good, and one is average. Could still go any which way. I’m trying to keep my expectations low so they can shatter them

^^^Agreed. Hate when a band releases a bunch of singles over a year span then include them all in an upcoming record.

"Which pitch correction kalk?"

On the vocals. I noticed it on the Singles Collection as well. Sometimes the vocals soundlike they're played on a keyboard, if that makes sense. The vocals are edited quite a bit and far from the "live sound" I personally prefer. It's very noticeable with everything that came after the Singles Collection imo.

To be fair - most music uses pitch correction and we don't notice, because we're used to it. It sucks, but that's just we world we live in. But when it's noticeable, that's when it REALLY bothers me (I'm looking at you, Haken ...). There are instances where it's used as a stylistic choice, like on Panther by Pain of Salvation or this cloud rap thing. That's cool actually imo. Context matters.

I don't even get the extreme hostility over circle with me. Not really all that dissimilar from the rest of their recent stuff. Also that breakdown.

I hope they have a few more tracks that go as hard as holyroller on the new album tho

I don't really notice any pitch correction when listening to Courtney

I notice it more than ever before. It sounds hardly convincing to someone who doesn't hear it, but I can hear it. It's there and it has been there in the past as well.

It's mostly noticable in the choruses imo. They use some effects all the time too, all these things often overlap.

Edit: That doesn't mean it not pleasant or that Courtney can't sing though. It's just a thing I don't like for the studio versions

Haha shit see I'm sensitive to that stuff in other artists or specific albums, but my brain hasn't picked up on it yet with Spiritbox. Gonna have to look out for it now. She can certainly sing well enough live to not have to rely on production tricks. Seeing her sing the S/T songs back in 2019 cemented that for me.

Secret Garden... meh, they are becoming an modern Architects clone way too early in their career, atleast Architects had a good few years of trajectory to the point they're at now, they stuck to their guns in being mathcore, to a technical metalcore band for many years, dare I say their current sound does actually make sense for them, they've been doing tech metalcore for damn long they wanted to do something different (although if they just wanted to pull the sellout card is up for debate)

Spiritbox on the other hand, if they knew they where going to go the sellout route from the beginning I would prefer they not even get anyones hopes up for wanting more songs like Belcarra or Holy Roller, now fans are just going to constantly want more heavy songs cause you've shown that you've done it before (I am quite surprised at the positive reception Secret Garden has gotten already, people really think Spiritbox are the next coming of jesus huh, this is not hyperbole)

A band such as Crystal Lake is executing it better imo, they have a ton of heavy songs, so a song like Watch Me Burn is fine because I know it's not going to be the norm of what they write going forward (inb4 next album is 14 Watch Me Burn type tracks, but Disobey has me thinking that's not going to be the case, hopefully)

Tundra, that is some major gatekeeping. They like making heavy songs, but they don't like ONLY making heavy songs.

And I don't think anybody has an issue with Architects going more mainstream. It's more in regards to the execution. BMTH's last release was well received because it was good, but that was one of their most mainstream albums.

Just let a band be a fucking band. Shoehorning them into a genre and saying they must stay in their lane is downright exhausting. Just say you don't like the new sound, and move on.

You got plenty of BR00T4L bands to listen to. Spiritbox ain't losing any sleep over it, and neither is Architects after this site (me included) shit on the last album.

I am open for their album, but I agree with Tundra, that they became an architects clone too early. Maybe they will get into their own in the future, would be nice, and they're doing well with their current direction, but it's not a style I really care for.

Also agreed with Garth, it's the execution that's bad about the last Fartitechts, it could have been great, but it just wasn't. BMTH - and I am not a fan of them - pull it off well

they are doing modern architects better than modern architects are, so that's good I guess
