It's their best since Shogun, although it sounds nothing like Shogun

It's about the same as those two which means I now have 3 Trivium albums that I enjoy.

Parts of In Waves are also pretty awesome too

I think I like in Waves more tbh. While certainly some of the songs are better on here, I just keep going back to IW more often.

I've only really been listening to this for a couple days so I guess it's too early to tell which one I'll go back to more

I'm glad I saw these guys years ago before they turned into garbage. I cant imagine having to sit through Silence in the Snow songs live.

I remember they used to play a pretty kickass Pull Harder and Kirisute Gomen live.

Yea they fuckin killed Pull Harder when I saw them. And they even played Departure which was one of my favorite Ascendancy songs. And the songs from In Waves sounded 10 times better live.

Any edge this album's got going on is killed by the sterile production and Heafy's cleans. I get these cleans are technically better than Ascendency/Shogun era, but songs then didn't come to a halt to show off his Draiman influence. I liked him more when he was trying to be Hetfield.

This is their best instrumentally since Shogun but nothing here rips like Dusk Dismantled or Shattering the Skies Above from In Waves.

Drummer's sick though.

Drowning in Slow Motion was fucking great, don't know why they put it as a b-side.

Their B-sides are often standouts, more than any other band I've seen. Skyline, Chaos and Drowning all rip. In Waves' issue was just that it was all over the place and hit or miss. Following Shogun didn't help much either.
