Prelude was ok I guess but compared to Miseria Cantare and Strength Through Wounding it was pretty underwhelming.

DU has Affliction, The Interview, Endlessly, She Said, and 37mm which are all amazing

stop trying to turn me on Grey, I don't get more rock-hard than this.

My opinion on DU has fluctuated a lot. When it first came out, I was extremely disappointed. It felt like a massive step down from STS and cringe-worthy in how much it so blatantly tried to piggy back on the so-called "emo" trend of the time. Then it grew on me a lot. But now it has grown off me a lot and I think every other post STS album is much better than it. DU has 37mm, and I like The Killing Lights and Love Like Winter but basically every other song is sub par. And Affliction is really bad.

I don't get the hate for DU, it's Sing the Sorrow again but with a higher production value. I know I might get beat up for sayin that, but come on

Nooo, Affliction is like one of their worst songs of their modern era. The lyrics are so bad, urgh.

And yeah, I know that a lot of people say that DU is like STS again but honestly they sound totally different to me. Like, they are similar in that they both dabble in electronics and they both try and retain some post hardcore edge. But DU is just waaay poppier.

And the production and feel of the two albums is just starkly different. Both Burials and the Blood Album sound closer to STS than DU to me.

I agree with everything you said nightbringer except the part where it grew off you. And about Affliction being bad, wtf?? That's like the most STS song on there.

nightbringer, what's your opinion regarding mornings, specifically bringing them?

Blood Album is the sound of a more immediate AFI. There are still some jams on here but compared to other albums I feel like there's not as many layers to dig into.

Also, I guess Davey is a Missing Man now and we're all trying to figure out the latest cryptic AFI hints.

Supposedly they're releasing the song tomorrow and an EP will follow in December. When was the last time AFI released an EP?
