I was there and I enjoyed the show but Amott looked really not interested and that really bothered me. But Stanne was amazing as always

Stanne is legitimately one of the coolest dudes in metal, always in a great mood and trying to get everyone to have a good time. The fact he's a pretty avid gamer is a plus too.

Dude gets me pumped on life. He really is one of those musicians I look up to as a role model. Kinda like Chuck Shuldiner, where every interview and footage you see the guys just ooze what appears to be the most sincere positivity and character. It makes the lyrics feel so much more honest as well.

what kind of games does he play? aren't Anders and Bjorn from in flames into it as well? I always see them popping up on fb advertising like call of duty lmao

Tbh I like these miles more than old in flames as well, so they are always refreshing to head opposed to them

Only IF I ever go back to are Jester Race and Whoracle, but the entire DT discography is worth listening to. Anders was good on Skydancer

never really got the appeal of In Flames. I really like some of their melodies, but they lack the death metal aspect of melodeath and their music seemed kinda shallow to me always. even their early albums are inferior to most of melodeath from that time imo.

For me (and I'm sure others), In Flames have always been on the more accessible end of melodic death metal, and since they were quick to phase their roots out, it made them easier to break into a more mainstream mold. I'd heard almost everything they'd released up through Come Clarity by the time I listened to a Dark Tranquility album other than The Gallery. However, as we all know, DT did a better job sticking to their roots, and even though they've slipped in and out throughout their career, they've at least kept much of their melodic death metal basis intact.

I really dig his gothic baritone vox à la Paradise Lost on some of the tracks. I really get some Black Tears (Edge of Sanity) vibes on those.

After seeing them for a second time this past Saturday, I think I can officially say that Mikael Stanne is my favorite frontman. Dude is positively infectious.
