Fun fact: Shadows right now is actually a little older then James Hetfield was during the Load/Reload cycle and Dave Mustaine during the Youthanasia/Cryptic Writings years. Guess that gives context to how long these guys have been around holy fuck I feel old now.

They've already been going for 17 years, goddamn

I loved Waking the Fallen way back in 2003 and haven't cared for anything since. I remember pre-ordering the album online to get the free t-shirt it came with (either from Interpunk or Hopeless). I saw these guys a lot before '05, however I haven't gone to see them since. Shadows hot redhead girlfriend used to sell the merch.

It's very good instrumentally, but Shadows sounds pretty weak (although he has his moments). Plus it's really fucking long

This is easily their best since City of Evil imo. And if the vocals were better, it would be their best since Waking the Fallen

I still don't find the length an issue (ooh-err missus) but this doesn't quite get their best for me yet.
However, it's way, way better than I had a right to expect.

"Exist" is a kickass closer.

But this rules too. It would be cool to see A7X become a full-fledged prog metal band, honestly... at the very least, they have the chops for it

I think everything except the s/t rules tbh.

Dat shadows diss though. He is hit or miss IMO. "Hero"-style heavy refrains are 10/10 with him but he can't be as heavy as needed in heavy verses and is too nasal in soft songs.
