It took me a legit year of listening to this band to finally start liking them as much as I do. I'm still partial on a good amount of their output too.

Can't believe people see me usher as a weak point. The modal shifts in the guitar solo make me wet.

There is something about this that feels less engaging than expected but I still enjoyed it and can see it growing. The problem might just be the length of each song. They all have some spectacular moments, but it could have came together better if they were a tad trimmed.
The callback to The Old Haunt in The March, even though I knew it was coming because I saw it in the comments somewhere, still caught me off guard and was really cool.
My favorites for now are the 3 singles, The March, and Melpomene. The Moon/Awake and the last 5 tracks were all really good too, but again, there's where the "I think these songs drag" comes into play.

A little disappointed by this off my first listen. Some of the songs seem straight out of a bad Jim Bean whiskey commercial. Lyricism is still there of course. Fave track: The Moon/Awake. I loved most of their previous works but this just didn't do it for me.

Light is something special. Casey's really evolved as a singer and songwriter.

Act IV felt a lot grander than this. This is a great album but I don't think any of these touch A Night on the Town, The Old Haunt, or If All Goes Well for now imo.

Oh yeah nothing on here is as good as A Night on the Town but as a whole I prefer this one. It's really close though and I love them both.

This is just one of those rare bands where I will never understand the love for. I tried getting into them so many times but just can't.

This album is absolutely brilliant. The first time I listened to this album (in the background while I was busy) I couldn't understand nor get into it. After a proper sit down and listen - no matter what type of music you like, this IS pure genius....musically, blew my mind.

Agreed this album deserves a proper sit down and listen. Not enough that really jumps out to grab you during casual listens but when you pay attention to the atmosphere it crafts then it's spectacular.

Like many people here, it's taken a few listens to really get into, and this is very much one for the fans (my girlfriend loved Act IV as someone without any interest in the overarching narrative but isn't engaging with this one quite so much) but to me it's an utterly spectacular spectacle and I really can't wait to see where the hell Act VI and Casey's work goes from here.

I'm not going to deny the music isn't good, I just can't seem to get into anything this band has done outside The Color Spectrum.

casey is obviously a very talented singer, and this album is beautifully composed, but it just seems...indulgent. it's TRYING so hard to be so much. i just feel like it lacks soul. it's dramatic to the point where i'm unable to relate to it. there are parts in which casey's vocal melodies seem to meander for the sake of meandering, in a way that strikes me as disingenuous.

Overblown? I mean... if you don't like overblown then you should have realised that this band wasn't for you long before Act V. That is what this band is, and always has been, all about. Theatricality is their USP.

Yeah, on repeated listens, this is tied with Act 2 for their best, maybe even better. I can't really see anything else beating this for AOTY. It's the most immersed in a listening experience I've been in a long time.
