Periphery wishes they could write even avg riffs

Have you heard the riff on "The Way the News Goes"? There are some brilliant lines on this album and to deny the fact that Periphery writes fantastic music, even if you don't like the vocals, is such a hard concept for me to grasp. There's so much stale metal out there but this ain't it.

the way the news goes sucks. b-list Chon riff and that abomination of a chorus with the blast beats they threw in there literally just for the hell of it. also spencer, who i am rarely annoyed by, is at peak annoyance. man, that might be my least favorite periphery song now that i think about it

IMO the blast beats help drive that section forward. Without them there wouldn't be any energy behind that section.

You can argue that about most modern metalcore bands like August Burns Red or Architects but Periphery are always doing something new. Their sound is constantly evolving and the music has so many layers to it.



I know I'm in the minority but this album blew my expectations out of the water.

If you listen to P:1 and this album there is a distinct evolution. Even from Juggernaut to P:III there is a difference in sound. I've a got a review coming at some point where I'll hash out a couple of these points.

People hate The Way the News Goes? Whaaa? The chon-like riff is a sweet piece of Holcomb music and the bit where the groovy distorted guitars come in over that riff is some legitimately cool shit. The blastbeat chorus is a bit jarring but it's hardly an abomination.

I make legitimate comments about the actual song, drawing from actual moments in the music to back up my reasoning. You, instead of making intelligible remarks to back up yours, look up my 5's as if that says anything about whether I have any sort of legitimacy to back up my opinion. And only three of Coheed's albums are 5's in my book. If you're going to do some research make sure you're not lazy about it.

1. periphery is terrible and you only need to hear like 4 metal bands to know why
2. my taste better than yours
3. coheed barely has a good album let alone a 5/5
