idk what's so confusing about this one it's got nice melodies n a warm/fun vibe, i get why people hate it but tbh it's a pretty simple album i feel like

like i knew after the two singles it wasn't gonna be a feels here comes the indian merriweather whatever type anco album that pushes boundaries and is super inventive so i just went into it expecting it to be a fun pop album and that's what i got
these songs definitely work better live though

Your first mistake was assuming people's discourse for this record was over the fact it wasn't boundry pushing.
|
| |
most of my discourse for it is over the fact that its just really shitty sounding and banal
|
| |
its like diet 0 sugar lactose free animal collective
or like the skeleton of an anco album made by panda bear where everyone else just decided not to contribute but they released it anyway
|
| |
its not even catchy ever either so if we are talking about the 'pop song' front it fails there too

Sleep Cycle may be better than this, but it's not that great.

i might be in the minority but as someone whos probably listened to most animal collective releases a fair amount more than most sleep cycle is easily top 3 or 4 things they've released

also though it came out during like one of the most emotionally intense/weird/bad periods of my life ever and that almost certainly has 2 do with why i love it so much to some extent cause it helped me process a lot of feelings but also regardless the music is just really amazing
|
| |
yeah pretty sure that second thing is a lot more relevant than that youve 'listened to it more times than some people'

someone's salty
|
| |
salty? about what? obvious deflection on your part.
all im saying is how much you've listened to something compared to anyone else is irrelevant to this and a silly thing to highlight in some kind of attempt to put weight into your opinion. it doesnt convince me of anything, just makes me more skeptical of your opinion and the worth of the album that you would think like that.
whereas the second thing makes me empathize with your appreciation of the album and makes me more interested to check it out.

lol dude that statement was not meant to be taken this seriously at all, all i meant was as someone who's spent a lot of time listening to these guys and watching them grow and develop as artists that EP seemed really special to me even among their best work

^great stance for Centipede which is vastly underrated. But this, meh. Too much Mr. Rodgers and Rugrats, not enough nit and grit. Centipede was the perfect balance and probably the best thing this group have done. It was like shooting a paintball gun at a child's birthday party. This was more like putting up child-proof covering at all outlets at a child's birthday party.
