Interesting how Janick-penned tracks, since The X Factor, have more or less ended up being the highlights from each album.

Every time I revisit this, it ends up sounding a little more boring. All tracks have their merits and there are some definite highlights, but there's nothing that wows me like on just about any of their previous releases. After enough time to digest this, for me, this is the worst Bruce-era Maiden.

@MrSirLordGentleman: I think part of that comes from how they never played that tune live (to my knowledge anyway). But agreed, one of the best written and executed tracks from their classic era.

Maiden needs more songs with orchestra like Empire or Paschendale, it fits perfectly with their "epic" sound

They really need to make a back-to-their-roots move and release a "simpler" 45-50 min metal-rocking album. All of these post 2000 prog-metal albums are great and all but the band has reached a saturation point imo
