Jupiter has more radio friendly/likely to be more popular RHCP songs IMO, while Mars has just better written songs.

Why has the world gone mad for the new Chilis' album?

Sure, there's some great playing from the band but the words and melodies are little short of embarassing. Do words no longer matter? Are tunes passe?

Here's a little verse I'd like to offer to their frontman Anthony Keidis. It took me about two minutes to knock it up in his exceptionally imitable style. Maybe he can use it on their next album, because it'll more or less fit to any one of the three tunes he employs.

Dey sit in a mansion and mix-up dey’s ruckus

Their ruse is to choose a cool hot-shot ‘prod-u-sir’,

Cuz once they was pukka but now they just suckas,

Once Lollapalooza ... now lollipop losers.

Yours faithfully,

Johnny Black

The way I see it is that because there's so much crap music out there now you guys have forgotten how to appreciate good music. Sure this album may not be a classic, but if you're honest what did you expect?

For those who dislike this album what else are you going to look for in the charts? The Arctic Monkeys? Don't make me laugh, I could re-write the dictionary with critical words and phrases to sum them up.

So finding music involves looking at charts?

The assumption that the Chili Peppers are the only good band out there today is beyond stupid.

No. The majority of good music is ignored, why else would there be the charts? This Message Edited On 06.03.06

At this point in my 'middle-aged' style grumble I would like to complain about the many pople who bash this album and yet have never heard anything of the pre-BSSM Chilis. I guess if that had done so then they could appreciate this album more for three reasons:

1- How amateurish and different those albums are

2- How the Chilis have grown and developed their musical style

and

3- What the Chili Peppers are all about, I believe some people miss the point of their music.

There really is no set "point" to music. Almost every song can be interpreted many different ways. What meaning you find within the context of a song is subjective.
