I really enjoyed this album. The drum work was very dynamic and interesting...not that it usually isn't...but just a bit more this time. I loved the homage to the band Goblin and the record is so pastoral such that it is like the dark forest beyond Canterbury. So much of the earth. Reminds me a bit of Änglagård, Sinkadus, Anekdoten, and Landberk.

It's very different on here and Heritage though, looser and freer

Yes, the drumming is good on every Opeth album, I just like the swing on this one, and Martin Axenrot is known as a drummer who is influence by Buddy Rich, so he usually swings, but I just like his performance on this recording, he's really been in the cut the last few years....

Did Martin Lopez end up playing on this or not? His name is gone from this album's wikipedia page

I definitely prefer the drumming on Heritage though, I just love his jazzier style. Here he isn't nearly as innovative as on Heritage, but yeah he's got some interesting parts. But his performance on Heritage would be very hard to top, since it's definitely one of the best drumming I've heard in recent years

It's also because this is more structured and subdued than heritage which is all over the place

They were all from right after I posted it, just trolls mad about the whole "UGH 50 OPETH REVIEWS IN ONE DAY OVERRATED BAND AND ALBUM NEG NEG NEG." Which is funny because there's only been 5 posted over the last few days

well it does kinda suck when people's reviews of albums that may not otherwise get any exposure are bumped off the front page because the same boring album gets reviewed over and over again (not that it wasn't expected or anything). imagine how bad it's gonna be when/if a new tool record comes out.

Since this such a huge release wouldn't that mean that the other reviews will get lots of views too? Most of them are around 1000 views each which is pretty impressive. And I've never had a review cross 10,000 views which is pretty sweet
