who has to agree upon it for it to count?
does sharing too many similarities with another genre, sonically, discount a genre's ability to exist?

Enough people that music historians and the population at large deem it canonical. There is sharing
too many similarities, and then there is being indistinguishable. This is why these are the conditions
that would grant vaporwave status as a musical genre.

Has someone already asked if Thales is the second (or actually like fourth or fifth or something) coming of MichaelJordan?
|

so a genre must have its own, unique theoretical core driving it for it to be legitimate?
I was referring to the notion that this will all be looked back on in 20 years time with the same kind of influence as surrealism, not its validity as a genre

okay thanks, and yeah I think that makes total sense, actually

It probably doesn't help that I think vaporwave is very much a product of "right place, right time" as well, but *shrug*

I really do like vaporwave though, I can't vouch for it's legitimacy or anything like that I just relate to and it connects with me on a personal level, and shit like this and Eccojams just simply sound amazing

"That is not a refutation. You have only implied that it is refutable."
"I'm being strawmanned I am asserting to right to defend myself."
"It states that vaporwave is both anti-capitalism and anarcho-capitalism, which is a contradiction."
"Point out the logical fallacy in my syllogism, please."
"You don't even know the difference between a priori and a posteriori."
......................................"Because he sure as hell didn't achieve that in this word salad of a review."

I suppose that Thales' job on the site is going to be to weed out every falsity in everyone's work on the site. If he doesn't even have 100 comments yet and this is how he's starting out on the site, imagine what hilarity will ensue in future reviews!
