I would agree. I never saw a town in the remakaster. I guess it's just a remaster but it looks like a remake and they changed some things. I remember the Imperial City being stupidly large back then in the original without modding in more stuff. It wasn't as confusing as Vivec of course but it was large and there were citizens everywhere.

I just visited Bruma and it seemed fine to me. 1-2 npcs per household not including guilds and shops, so it feels good to me. Haven’t gone to Imperial City yet

Its remastered in the sense that it's a graphics overhaul laid on top the og game with some qol and ui improvements. The mechanics from the og are still there they just feel more modern. The nice scarcity was a big complaint in the original as well. I'm not entirely sure they even fixed the leveling up because I haven't messed around with if virtues are capped or not.

virtues are fixed regardless what you do during leveling. you can only cast destruction and still put +5 into strength each level. for better or worse
the world scaling isn't changed, you'll still see bandits in daedric armor
|
| |
You can still mod the game too it's just the modders have to figure it out (they already found a line of text). It's just haha I said I started playing ESO again and I loved Oblivion original. I am good for now. Here's my meat roll. I forget the lingo in Oblivion.

The leveling issue had to do with not allocating enough skill points when you level up so the power curve gets harder if you don't min-max. There's still work arounds do I don't think it's the most damning thing about the game but damage sponge enemies do suck. I'm not far enough to where it's been an issue but since leveling up is faster and easier now I'll have to just trust they knew about it.

Honestly this game has not aged well for me unfortunately, new coat of paint or not.
|
| |
thats a shame im having ridiculous amt of fun falling in love with oblivion all ova again
thought i mostly aged out of rpgs but i feel like a kid
|
| |
great time for me to play an elder scrolls game for the first time
|
| |
Yeah it's a shame but as I've gotten older I think I'm just a lot more picky with games than I used to be. Often times if a game doesn't hook me within the first hour or two these days, I'll just drop it.
I unfortunately have a bunch of titles on my PS5 that I've started but never finished

I downloaded the remaster Tuesday but I got the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree the day b4 bc I didn’t know this was actually going to come the day it was announced lol
Conflicted lmao

Game seems cool, glad they kept the dramatic dialogue
And I accidentally clipped through a prison door 😂. Game hasn’t crashed on me yet so it’s not the complete experience yet tho

I wonder if they fixed scroll duping

They did but people already found a dupe glitch with the way storage interacts with your inventory when you move something.

The capital city of the world of Tamriel having super empty streets was always strange.
|

just think of it as medieval europe. there were outliers like paris but most cities were tiny like 10,000 people. that's basically a suburban neighborhood where i live

10000 would still look absolutely bustling compared to what we always get in Bethesda towns. I've always just acknowledged it as a technical limitation thing and sort of just imagined it more grandiose. Been really loving coming back and seeing it with this new coat of paint. The fairly constant jank is usually nostalgic and laughable but it can veer into annoying territory. Companion pathing is way too shit lol.
|
| |
well sure just think of it as a scaled down medieval town of 10,000 versus a scaled down metropolis of a million. much easier

anyone play Kingdom Come Deliverance 2?
