all the performances in the show are pitch perfect, I thought Donald would steal the show but the whole cast is fucking spot on

Yes, all the performances are excellent. To be honest, I'm a little surprised, I've liked Donald's writing in the past, but this is a lot more refined than what I've seen from him. Some of the visual direction's a little one note, but I think it's better than it was with Clapping for the Wrong Reasons. Just finished the pilot, going to give it a little while till I check out the second.
Also, the show's sense of humour I think is some of Donald's best. It's a lot drier than I'm used to from him (though to an extent I could imagine Because the Internet hitting similar notes if it took itself a little less serious), but it's nonetheless hilarious.

Yeah well this is really the first project where he's been pretty much in full control as opposed to just being a part of, as someone on reddit rightly said. I mean Clapping too but that was only ever a prelude to this album

From the perspective I take, Donald Glover's praise has been quite premature in that for quite some time now he's been lauded for things that he as an artist has yet to prove, for things I feel he has only now begun to truly deliver with projects such as Atlanta - but I can understand people arguing this to be the case since Because the Internet, or even Camp, neither of which I feel have matched their ambition. Even had I loved all of his projects to date, I don't think Glover as a writer, actor or musician has been even close to matching his ambition in terms of quality. I think he's been good at everything he does, but not great at any of it. And that's something I feel we're only feeling the shift of now: with Atlanta, Pharos, and whatever else is planned, I see the potential for Glover and Gambino to actually live up to what critics and fans already seem to seen in him, but I've clearly missed. Great video, though.
