and yes when it's done in large scale it makes the site function differently, I would argue worse

It would be nice if more people were more objective. And agreed Sea, rating is pretty pointless if you give everything a high rating.

yeah that's true; but part of that's due to people giving 4.5s to everything and part of that is due just to lots of less knowledgeable users on the site
