Their streak of albums since The Sky... up till FOABP is purely amazing... One of the few - if not the only - band that has had me so caught up with them in the past 10 years

Odd just how overlooked they were when they were knocking around. Absolutely nothing registered with the masses at all.

I have a vague memory of FoaBP placed on a ‘new releases’ listening post at HMV but I might be imagining it.

You ask anyone who was aged 12-20 during ‘95-2005ish who the band were and it would be a literal blank planet

As I’ve got older this band means a lot more than it ever did. The superficiality and proto prog is by-passed and you’re just left with an appreciation for amazing tunes, a nostalgic touch, great atmosphere and fucking amazing albums.

I've always been confused by this as well. This and Stupid Dream in particular would have been perfect for the Radiohead crowd at the time, but somehow it just never happened. Sometimes I wonder how things would've gone if albums like Deadwing and In Absentia were released during the alternative metal boom in the 90s

Definitely. I view Stupid Dream in that capacity as well but looking back there’s no doubt it pales into comparison to what was happening.

I was 17 when OKC came out and it completely blew my mind. At 19 I’d have heard Stupid Dream and to be honest would’ve thought it was abysmal.

Agreed but I'd include the Up the Downstair remaster with Gavin on drums and Staircase Infinities.

It is weird how underrated this band has always been.

That’s my favourite track as well. My first PT album, but better late than never.

Shesmoved is one of my faves. Those Cadd9's in the chorus are the best. Also the guitar solo rips so hard

^ Yeah, the Cadd9s give the song such a nostalgic, sentimental feel

I'd happily give this a 4.5 review, but it looks like YoYo covered that over a decade ago :]

If Four Chords were a bonus track and/or the bridge were incorporated into another song, and included Buying New Soul and Cure for Optimism, this would be a 5 imo
