To me it's just sad when people have lots of 1's. It just tells me they're not good at predicting their own tastes or using their time wisely. I can think of many albums I stay clear of because I know there's no chance of me liking them. When we spend our money we don't buy stuff that we will likely have no use for. When we spend an hour listening to an album, I hope we're not listening to stuff we know we will not enjoy. That's of course assuming we listen to music for pleasure and not to smash other's opinions.

Of the like three albums I heard that came out in 2013, this was the best. I'm pretty out of touch with modern music, spend too much time getting caught up on the classics

Same I try to listen to at least one of two new albums a month but I'm way too caught up in the discographies I have to finish.

Hell I'm awful with discog's too, I really just focus on what's considered the classic by a band and then move on to another band. Really trying to work on that but music is such a time commitment haha

@Elc I don't mind finishing all of my long unfinished discographies at all cause music has turned into one of my biggest passions in such a short time haha

Yeah I just spend too much time listening to stuff I already have, breaking in new albums takes a lot of time for me. Then I look at users like KILL and their thousands of ratings and I'm just like how?

if you listen to a disc just once and spew bullshit on 70% of the stuff you hear (like some users here do) there you go, you'll get to 2500 pretty soon

Wait didn't Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets come up in that thread? Has Mongi actually not heard those? Just vaguely hilarious if you're into all this heavy stuff while skipping the albums that get most people into metal haha

Haha I listen to tons of metal, but just not that side of the spectrum. It just never really occurred to me to listen to thrash metal or genres like that, but I listen to Opeth, Tool, Isis, Neurosis and Ulver and stuff like that. The more atmospheric sides of metal.

I feel that, I skipped thrash too since I got into metal through a love of Rush which led to Dream Theater and the whole prog metal scene. Opeth helped me transition into the heavy stuff but I've left prog for more of the older death metal and atmospheric black metal releases recently. Never owned a Metallica album until after I'd heard shit like Cryptopsy. Never got into post-metal though, where would one start with that?
