Queensryche have pretty much always been a proggy Iron Maiden

I can't remember their last album that well, but I definitely heard more Helloween than Queensryche in the Iron Maiden albums I've heard (which is just about all of them).

Queensryche were basically an Iron Maiden and Judas Priest cover band when they started out so yeah there's definitely some strong similarities. Besides, The Final Frontier is pretty much a prog metal album so I think it's fair to compare it to an album by a prog metal band.

its prob more progressive than this actually

Iron Maiden have so many progressive albums.....they're easily a progressive metal band.

SiT and Seventh Son are pretty prog yeah

Yeah, without a doubt.

So we're going to reach back 30+ years to a time when they were apparently a cover band in order to make a link? Either way, I just don't hear it. Both bands have had their own sounds (compared to each other) for decades.

Also, I agree that Iron Maiden is more prog than Queensryche. Those are my favorite Maiden albums.

AMOLAD, BNW, and DOD.......their earlier albums also have a lot of progressive elements.

You seem to be missing the point, Willie. It doesn't matter how similar the two bands are, I was just agreeing with someone who was comparing new releases from two long-running metal bands, which I think is a perfectly reasonable thing to do, especially when you consider that they actually do have some similarities.

You're still acting like you and I are the only one having this conversation. There are other people I'm responding to (and you). You can compare bands all day long if that's what you want. Maiden and Queensryche's latest albums are pretty damn different though.

their first two? they were pure m/

I never said the 2 albums in question were all that similar, I was just saying, like everyone else in this discussion, that the band's have some similarities.

These 5 user discussions always get confusing!!! :D

Definitely. If there was a secondary influence, though, Queensryche was already dabbling in hard rock while Maiden was still more of a galloping power metal influence.

"Three of five original members (of over 30 years) are still in the band. How the fuck is this not the
real Queensryche? Bands change members all the time. This one has lost two original members in 30
years."
As much as I would hate to see Slayer for example going on without Hanneman (although it's just one
member missing + Lombardo), I agree that this is the real Queensryche.
And I really don't want Tate to return.
