This album fails to excite me in any way. It borders between boring and frustrating to listen to whenever I decide to give it another chance. And to top it all off, a band that I used to really like is behind it, and it just disappointed on all fronts.
I gave it a 1.0 because I dislike everything about it. I'm not going to try to argue about any supposed "objective" quality the music has. But it's so far from anything that I like that no rating other than the lowest one I can give it properly represents how I feel about it.

lol not a chance
I've endured stuff that is truly 1 in the past so much so that I have acquired a 6th sense for it and can avoid it like stepping in dogshit nowadays. Like I said, this is bollocks but far from an actual 1

I'll probably be alone in thinking that this was arguably Muse's best album (along with Absolution) then?... I like the diversity on this album, you certainly can't accuse this album of being samey which some of the stuff on their previous couple of albums was, Resistance was probably their most Progressive album with that HUGE sounding Exogenesis classical section at the end but that was probably what alienated so many of Muse's original fans it was perhaps too ambitious although I'm of the opinion of the more ambitious the better, I'd rather see artistic creativity over commercial viability. I think 2nd Law is absolutely superb, Save Me had a hint of something that Doves might write!

Yes I'm afraid we are when the music press are trying their best to push Charlie Simpson into a reunion with Busted rather then stick to creating the credible music he is with Fightstar and his solo material regardless of how little it might sell in comparison.
"nah it was just really pointless and directionless" Oh really?... I wouldn't say so, depends on how your ears interpret things. I could hear what Muse where trying to achieve with Resistance and and they succeeded, 2nd Law is even better though, the album evolves brilliantly and takes you on a musical adventure. I thought Black Holes was majorly overrated and sounded far too much like Queen. It's just my opinion like I said so I don't expect you to agree with it!
